234. Angi Bryan: I so relate to Matt’s fear of being seen eating. I’ve struggled with my weight for over 30 years.. and I’ve never been a big eater.... carbs are my enemy. Even what’s considered “healthy carbs” like fruit, keep me from losing weight. I even avoided fat to keep from gaining. I’ve recently started a keto diet... which is a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet.. and it’s made all the difference in the world. On a typical diet, it had taken me over 9 months to lose just 30 lbs. Since I started keto, just 12 weeks ago, I’ve lost another 30 pounds and feel incredible. I never knew it was the fruit and whole grains that were keeping me overweight. Now I mostly eat healthy fats and oils, lots of leafy greens, a bit of protein... and I completely avoid sugar, grains, and starches.... and I don’t even miss them anymore. Truth is, carbs are an addiction.. and there is not one nutritionally essential kind of carb that the body needs... but it truly needs dietary fat to function well. If you haven’t already, look into keto.

Whenever I would go to friends' houses as a kid I would purposefully take smaller portions so they wouldn't think that I eat a lot but also weren't skeptical of me not eating when everyone else was.
