97. MissChloeRhiannon96: It's probably because you dyed your hair before and dark hair dyes have a warmth to them that means that making your hair lighter turns it an orangey colour. It takes a while for the orange to settle and fade but it does go eventually.

And last month I tried to go back to my natural colour and it came out red, brown and orange. It was terrible!!!! BUT! I fixed it by adding some regular blonde highlights in, and took away the red and orange, so it's close to dirty blonde but still had a lightness to it. I've been there hahahahahahaa. The hair colour and shaved face at the end made you look so much younger!

Usually, multiple sessions need to take place. Here's a tip, USE PURPLE SHAMPOO. It's a special shampoo that you can buy at Sally's Beauty Supply and it's point is to strip the brass-orange tones from the blonde. I used to dye my hair platinum blonde and the purple shampoo was the only shampoo I would use. It's made especially for people, like you, who have a natural dark hair color. Just put it in your hair and leave it in till the very end of your shower. Almost like it's the first thing you use and the last thing you wash out. You picking up what I'm putting down? The purple shampoo should help you a lot, I promise. It was the only reason my platinum hair color stayed platinum. Good luck Josh!

I have went from blonde to orange to red to brown to blonde and the only time my hair has been that color was when 1. my bleach was not a professional brand or done correctly and 2. when i did it myself xD go see someone at a salon bc there's actual color/bleach measurements they have to do to mix the right colors to cancel out the orange. and people are being hard on your friend but i have had a high end salon mess up on my hair too, it happens sometimes and it's nbd just go to someone who has ready access to all kinds of colors like a salon. i had red hair which wasn't "natural" red it was the actual color red and everyone told me going light brown after would be impossible and my salon covered it up completely and there is no trace of red. you just have to find the right combo.

Your hair needs to be a light yellow for it to take toner( toner is what takes out all the brass which is all the orange and yellow and turns it into a blonde color) and for the toner you'll need a 20 vol developer. And you'll need purple shampoo to keep out the brass

Terri Fawcett: The thing is your hair wasn't going to go blonde, or even remotely highlighted on the first try because you've dyed your hair before and your actual hair colour is quite dark, so the copper colour it came out as was expected I would've thought, because your darker colour was a very warm dark brown. It doesn't look awful but you'd be able to achieve the colour you wanted after a few tries. Most hair salons now have a product called Olaplex (which Guy Tang made pretty much famous, Kim K uses it on her hair for her black-to-blonde transitions) which is bleach but it's totally safe for your hair and has chemicals in it that leave your hair looking healthier after you've used it than before. I've used it to go from black, to red, to blonde, and my hair is firmly still on my head and feels great. It'd be worth spending that extra bit of money on your hair Josh if you're serious about a big style change. :)

What he wanted required more then just bleaching he needed a few colors to achieve that look, but all he got was a single round of hair bleach in foil... Josh's hair was short enough that he didn't need foil and they would have been able to see the progress of the color. That's what happens when you DIY blonde and have no idea what your doing.

Eric Lange: As someone who went from brown to blonde... the bleach needed to stay on a bit longer to lighten it and then the way to get it to a blonde basically comes in the toner you use that should lighten the hair. It looks about normal for the first step. It took me 3 hours the first time I did it and about four different steps. Just thought this could help a bit.

My hair at that time was wavy, and so people in my grade would call me "peanut butter jellyfish". 1718. Emelie: +Molly Brewer Nah it is way easier than that. Hair has(not grey though) 1.dark pigment, 2.red pigment. The dark pigment goes first, the yellow takes more time. If your bleach is to weak or you keep it on to short it will be orange. Bleach is not colour. But if you have yellow hair, you can afterwards add purple/blue toner to even it out a little bit.

I dyed mine a while ago going for a strawberry blonde and it came out like Daphne from Scooby doo so I used t/sal HEAVILY, especially on my roots (cause they were and orangest) a few days in a row and it really helped tone it down.. ik you already re dyed it a little bit but it might still be of use to anyone else in the comment section

If she used a 20 or 30 it could have been lighter and then you could like put a light brown in for like 10 or 20 mins and rinse and maybe you'll get a dirty blonde. You shouldn't rebleach for another month or else you'll really be stripping the hair. Also, she could have used a lightener with blue or violet dye maybe even a platinum lightener.
